Well known for her role as Cher, Alicia Silverstone played the role “absolutely perfect” – Jeff Craig (60 sec preview). Being the most popular girl in school is difficult, but trying to find the perfect guy on top of it all?!

She was asked how she was still a virgin and Cher said she’s picky about her shoes and those are just on her feet, so of course she’s going to be picky about this! She doesn’t let anyone touch her without her permission, which can be taken as her being prude or a “bitch.” Clueless focuses on female friendships and promotes taking female sexuality into women’s hands.

However, this is a 90s movie so audiences have to remember that this was the way to deal with things going on at the time. The cinematic feminist movement that also incorporates, not just this movie, many others like Silence of the Lambs, Boys Don’t Cry, Fried Green Tomatoes and Thelma and Louise. 

Cher was right in not allowing anyone to just touch her or take something away from her that she wasn’t ready to give. Women shouldn’t have to just give up their bodies based on the needs of other people, women have choices and are human.

The way she explains complicated things to her classmates in ways that they would understand is very important. Obviously she does her homework and she communicates to her classmates in the ways she and they will understand. She’s highly intelligent and yet dresses in designer fashion clothing – she’s rich but she knows what she’s talking about and does her research.

Cher coaxes her teachers to fall in love with each other and decided to give a make over to one of her classmates, Tai. Her crush, Christian (played by Justin Walker) turns out to be gay and opens up to her about it, she doesn’t feel rejected but hugs him and takes him shopping. When the classmate Tai (played by Brittany Murphy) becomes more popular than Cher, she takes a step back and realizes how petty it is to want to be popular. She then also takes another step backward and falls in love with her ex-stepbrother, Josh (played by Paul Rudd), after she realized what he’d been saying all along was true.

It is still true that Cher was obsessed with her clothing and shoes, but who wouldn’t be if someone had her wardrobe?! She is still considered a fashion icon. Even Iggy Azalea has replicated the iconic outfit that Cher wore to school for a music video.
