It is rumored that the show Last Man Standing was taken off of Netflix because of its controversial topics on the show. Tim Allen plays the star of this show (even though he’s a producer as well) and shares these conservative views with his character (Mike Baxter). The title of an article that explains this further “‘Last Man Standing’ cancelled despite high ratings” by Fox News Entertainment.

The article states that “The show has been praised for being one of the few shows that appeal to a conservative viewership, something the network was consciously trying to do.” and “With our dramas, we have a lot of shows that feature very well-to-do, well-educated people, who are driving very nice cars and living in extremely nice places,” ABC Entertainment President Channing Dungey said. “… But in recent history we haven’t paid enough attention to some of the true realities of what life is like for everyday Americans in our dramas.”  Viewers may agree that the show was very controversial, but that it did have a good story line.

According to the people’s First Amendment rights, others can say whatever they’d like. However, according to the Supreme Court case Schenck versus the United States, “The question in every case is whether the words used are used in such circumstances and are of such a nature as to create a clear and present danger that they will bring about the substantive evils that Congress has a right to prevent.” Meaning that the people can have a voice, unless it creates a clear and present danger to the public.
